KiwiWakame is a Dunedin-based business, operating in the deep south of New Zealand.
Our goals are to provide the highest quality Wakame seaweed and Kelp products to our customers, while preserving New Zealand's pristine environment through sustainable harvesting practices.
The nutrient rich southern waters are constantly replenished by the southern ocean, creating a perfect environment to grow and harvest Wakame seaweed and Kelp.
All of our products are wild, hand-harvested, using sustainable practices, rather than farmed, ensuring all products are 100% NZ-made and natural.
Macrocystis Pyrifera contains the highest concentrations of iodine of all the kelp species. Containing at least 70 vitamins, enzymes, minerals, trace elements and proteins. Our kelp chips are a great source of vitamins B1, B2, B12, calcium, iron, potassium, magnesium and iodine.
Kelp improves thyroid functioning, energy levels, weight loss, liver function, brain function, digestion, arthritis and memory loss.
Better known as Wakame, Undaria Pinnatifida is an edible seaweed indigenous to the north west Pacific Ocean and cold temperate coastal regions of Asia. Since 1980 however, Wakame has been spread throughout the globe by international shipping and mariculture.
Treated as a delicacy in many Asian countries, and highly valued for it's nutritional properties, Wakame has been harvested for over 1000 years.
Eaten both dried, and fresh, Undaria Pinnatifida contains high levels of calcium, iodine, thiamine, vitamin B12 and Omega-3 fatty acids
